Representing approximately 300 charities and over 500 individuals, the Institute of Legacy Management is a professional body for individuals involved in managing legacy income.

A proportion of the membership of the ILM are full time legacy professionals, however not all our members work in this role full time. In fact for many members, managing legacy income is just one of many roles they fulfill. ILM welcomes professional legacy members practising in all sectors of legacy management.

Testimonials

Read what our members have to say:

“After attending a Beginners Legacy Management course I managed to reclaim £13,155 in tax refunds! This may not be considered a lot, but our legacies for a year are under £250k so £13k was quite a boost.  At the same time I also discovered that there was probably the same again if not more which I couldn’t reclaim because they were too old!”

Sue Ward, PA to the Director of Finance, The Scout Association

“I’ve always found the ILM website a great source of useful information but more – a chance to “compare notes” with other legacy officers, sharing experiences and comments on charity legacy matters. The Bulletin Board, especially, has been a source of entertainment as well as education!”

Jackie Batstone, Legacy Administrator, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

“I joined ILM whilst working as a legacy officer for the Brooke. Having returned to private practice after a wonderful year working in the charity sector, I am still a member, because I want to keep in touch with good friends that I have made. In addition, ILM is the perfect forum for updates, discussions and training.”
