Peter Littlefield

Peter works principally in the areas of contentious probate, succession planning, trust law, will drafting, tax planning, asset protection, executry administration and charities.

Peter specialises in tax and estate planning for private clients, including entrepreneurs and landowners. His work includes advice in connection with complex issues arising out of estates and post-death tax planning. He also advises a number of major national charities on Scots succession law.

Peter joined Turcan Connell 2002. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is accredited as a specialist in Trusts Law by The Law Society of Scotland. Peter graduated with an MA (Hons) degree in Sociology from the University of Edinburgh before completing his LLB degree and Diploma in Legal Practice. He speaks at seminars and conferences on succession and trust law and is also a tutor on the Private Client course of the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Peter was assumed as a Partner in April 2011.

Gavin McEwan

Gavin is a Partner working principally in the fields of charity law, succession, trusts, tax and asset protection. He is the Deputy Head of Turcan Connell’s Charities Legal Team and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in charity law. Gavin’s work in the area of charity law includes the establishment, regulation and reorganisation of charities, and he also advises extensively on tax efficient giving. He is closely involved in Turcan Connell’s unique Scottish collaboration with the Institute of Fundraising, dealing with all aspects of fundraising law and regulation and philanthropy.

Gavin is a member of the editorial board of the Scottish Private Client Law Review and a co-author of Tolley’s Charities Manual. He is Scottish legal adviser to the Which? publications What to do When Someone Dies and The Which? Guide to Wills and Probate. Gavin is a trustee of a number of charities, including the Edinburgh International Festival.

Lynn Richmond

Lynn handles a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters and has conducted a wide range of cases in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. She is also involved in alternative dispute resolution in the form of mediation and arbitration.

Lynn has graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a Certificate in Advanced Litigation and Dispute Resolution, with Distinction. She is also a board member of the Scottish Society for Computers and Law.

Lynn graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 (LLB Hons) and the University of Dundee in 2003 (Dip LP). She holds a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law and trained with Turcan Connell before qualifying as a solicitor in 2005.

She advises clients on all aspects of contract, delict, professional negligence, intellectual property and human rights issues, with particular emphasis on property disputes and contentious executries. Lynn regularly provides advice to private clients, businesses, estates and trusts on dispute resolution, raising and defending court actions and enforcement of court orders.
