The hotly awaited Charities Bill received Royal Assent on 24 February 2022 becoming the Charities Act 2022. Designed to make life less complicated for charities, there are a number of aspects which it is key for legacy officers to understand. Shoosmiths and Foot Anstey have teamed up to present a two-part session providing an insightful guide on how to make the most of those changes.
In the first session from 11.00am – 12.00pm Angela Bowman and Robert Nieri of Shoosmiths will explain the new law on amendment to charitable purposes; on the extended power to make ex gratia payments; and in respect of the increased flexibility to spend/ borrow from permanent endowment.
In the second session from 1.00pm – 2.00pm Anna Phillips and Sandra Worthington of Foot Anstey will consider the key property-related changes for legacy officers focusing on the changes to s.119 Reports, statements, certificates and what this will mean at a practical level!
