Forum: Modernising wills
October 19, 2023On 17th October, at the Modernising Wills: A Focus on Lasting Legacy and Capacity Issues Forum, ILM Chair, James Stebbings, participated in an event alongside Law Commissioner Professor Nicholas Hopkins and a panel of experts. Together, they explored the laws related to capacity and will-making, discussing potential reforms for modernisation.
The event featured discursive and interactive sessions covering the following topics:
- Law Commission’s law of wills reform proposals
- Reform considerations in the context of revocation of wills by marriage, electronic wills and capacity issues
- Considering capacity and representative powers in a wider global context
