Government ends Smee & Ford notification service

January 31, 2019

The government has this afternoon announced that it is to terminate its arrangement with Smee & Ford to notify charities of bequests. Charities have been informed of this development via an open letter from Susan Acland-Hood, Chief Executive of HM Courts & Tribunals Service. Smee & Ford has been given a six month notice period, after which the new arrangements will be in place.

As part of the development of the new service, we are very pleased that ILM has been selected to be a part of the working group that will look at future models and the requirements of the charity sector moving forward.

We will of course keep our members fully up-to-date with any developments.

You can find out more here.
