Hugh James Legacy Admin Clinic highlights: practical insights, collaboration and a plethora of sandwiches!

March 8, 2024

This week marked a milestone for Hugh James as they hosted their inaugural Legacy Admin Clinic, a dynamic forum designed for ILM members to exchange ideas, share best practices, and discuss some of the challenges! The event was hosted by Roman Kubiak, Partner and Head of Legacy Disputes, alongside colleagues Samantha Roberts, Partner and Trusts and Estates specialist, and Ellen Shipton from the Private Wealth Disputes team, whose expertise extends to advising charities on legacy administration, disputes and cy-près schemes.

Roman Kubiak expressed his enthusiasm about the event, stating, “The clinic provided a fantastic, informal platform to engage with charities and delve into various topics, including critical considerations surrounding the acceptance, refusal, and pursuit of legacies and donations.”

Matthew Lagden, ILM CEO shared his positive experience, saying, ” I love meeting our members and corporate partners, and it was lovely to be able to sit around a table and discuss such a wide range of issues. I always learn a lot about both the technical and human side of the job, all of which helps ILM do more to support our members. I will be attending the next sessions”

An ILM member in attendance expressed, “A friendly and pleasant couple of hours. I picked up a fair amount of useful information, and it was well worth attending. Hopefully, I will have an opportunity to attend a future session”

Looking ahead, Hugh James is pleased to announce two more Legacy Admin Clinics later this year, providing further opportunities for charities to benefit from this valuable knowledge-sharing initiative. Booking details can be found on the ILM events page and we encourage members to secure their spot as limited places are available.
