Linda Norgrove

15 June 1947 – 6 December 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Norgrove pass on the news that Linda passed away unexpectedly on Saturday 6th December.

Many of you will know Linda, who was one of the founding members of the ILM. Previously known as the CLOC (Charity Legacy Officer Committee), Linda gathered peers and legal professionals to form an organisation to support and train Charity Legacy Officers who, until then, had nothing similar to turn to. The idea grew until the concept of the ILM was hatched, at which point Linda become one of the founder members.

Before this, Linda had already become a self-employed Legacy Officer, calling her small business Legacy Link and this has now grown beyond anything Linda might have hoped. Linda was so proud that the small business she ran from a spare room at her home in Lewes had flown to such great heights.

A winner of the ILM Lifetime Achievement Award, Linda has contributed a huge amount of experience, time and training to the sector and was a mentor to many Legacy Officers throughout her time in the profession.

Linda’s family have been touched and humbled by the support from those who they have informed already and would welcome any stories or memories any of our members might like to share with them.

We are happy to post a funeral date when we are able, and if anybody wishes to contact the family direct, please get in touch with Freya Ellingham, Linda’s daughter, at [email protected]

Matthew Lagden, CEO of the ILM said: “I was enormously saddened to learn of Linda’s death. Along with many other people in the sector, she offered me enormous support and showed me great kindness when I began my journey in legacy management and her positive influence has continued to this day.

Ashley Rowthorn, CEO of Legacy Futures added: “Linda was a true pioneer of our profession. What began as her one-woman consultancy has grown into a thriving Legacy Link community that now supports more than 150 charities every week – a reflection of the vision and standards she set from the start. But her greatest legacy lives on in the people she inspired and mentored, including several of her own family who continue to play leading roles with us today. Linda shaped our sector in lasting ways, and we owe her immense gratitude. She will be deeply missed.”
