It’s All Systems Go for Love Your Legacy Manager 2025

September 25, 2025

All Systems Go is the theme of the ILM’s Love Your Legacy Manager (LYLM) campaign 2025.

Launching on 22 October, the campaign will highlight the importance of charity CEOs and senior managers working with their legacy teams to design and implement the systems and processes needed to achieve optimum results.

Matthew Lagden, CEO of the ILM, said: “Many charities are achieving amazing results with legacy income and that’s because they have the right people, tools and infrastructure in place. This can only be delivered if senior managers take time to talk to their teams and find out what they really need to support them.

We are also acutely aware that budgets are tight for everyone and it’s important to emphasise that All Systems Go is more about recognising how even adopting small changes can make a big difference to legacy efficiency and the success and happiness of legacy teams.

“As part of the campaign, we will be hearing about the game-changing decisions and processes which have transformed how legacy managers work; from the tools that speed up day-to-day activity, to tracking legacy income in a timely fashion and streamlining contact with pledgers and donor families.

“In doing so, we want to persuade charity bosses that investing time and effort, and supporting their legacy teams now means building on greater legacy success for the future – and that applies equally to their people too. Good legacy professionals are worth their weight in gold, and their skills and exceptional knowledge must be rewarded in a timely and appropriate fashion.”

The campaign will hear from both charities and systems providers as they discuss the best technologies required to support charities of all shapes and sizes.

All Systems Go will also showcase the results of the recent ILM salary survey, complete with benchmarking figures and insights into how legacy managers feel about their salaries. The goal is to encourage organisations to evaluate whether their legacy teams are receiving fair remuneration and attracting the best candidates when they advertise for legacy roles.

The Love Your Legacy Manager campaign begins with a dedicated webinar for charity senior managers hosted by ILM Board member and Legacy Link consultant Paul Browne.

Katherine Ellis, a senior consultant at Legacy Link will lead proceedings with a session on working with senior management teams, including examples of projects she has worked on.

This will be followed by a Q&A* with a cross-sector panel of experts, including Rich Mullens, Managing Director of FirstClass, together with Legacy Link senior consultants Marcia Prince and Duane Saunders.

Together, they will provide an overview of the latest ‘best in class’ technologies available to legacy teams and sharing top tips about how to navigate through the process.

In addition, fellow legacy professionals will be sharing first-hand experiences of how their charities have implemented new systems, the benefits that have been achieved, and why investing in new processes has helped charities of all shapes and sizes.

Further information, advice, tips and news on the All Systems Go campaign will be featured on the updated Love Your Legacy Manager website, which launches on the same day.
