We are a top 100 UK law firm and one of the largest law firms headquartered outside of London with a reputation for being entrepreneurial, specialist and easy to do business with. We focus on bespoke advice delivered through premium levels of service.

We strive to deliver an exceptional service at all times. Our advice is personal, practical and cost effective – exactly what our clients expect and while our business may have changed considerably over our 100 year history, we are proud of our South West roots and support our local communities and economies whenever we can.

With seven offices, five across the South West from Truro to Bristol and an office in London and Southampton we advise charities based in the South and nationally.

We have over 20 charity specialists across a variety of disciplines with expertise in a wide range of issues that can affect charities.

Our Legacies team takes a unique approach to income generation for charities through:
• legacy administration;
• probate administration;
• resolving legacy disputes; and
• legacy marketing, through partnership with Professor Stephen Pidgeon.

Legacy Accelerator is an exciting new product developed by us in conjunction with Professor Stephen Pidgeon. It brings together legal and strategic marketing expertise to help charities grow and improve their legacy income stream.

The team’s strength lies in our legacy dispute work, probate and legacy administration. We have a mix of contentious and non-contentious lawyers, the majority of which have STEP or ACTAPS qualifications with over 10 years’ experience working for national charities.

The team has four specialist lawyers dealing with contentious trust and probate cases arising out of legacy income. It has three further lawyers and two paralegals assisting charities appointed as executors of estates with probate. The team is also known for its unique offering in respect of legacy administration for charities. It has over £100 million of legacy income under its management with a team of four specialists dedicated to realising this income for the charities.

In addition the team includes a senior litigation lawyer specialising in resolving property issues where the property is an asset in the estate.

Our lawyers have direct in house experience working at charities such as the National Trust, Save the Children and Cancer Research UK which enables us to provide pragmatic, solutions focused advice

Our clients’ reputations are an important consideration in everything we do. Our nationally recognised Media team advise charities on reputation management issues including social media and data protection. The team has over 25 years’ experience in this complex field.
