Lucy Gill, Partner
Lucy leads the Legacies team and specialises in all aspects of contentious trusts and probate work for charities. Lucy has a comprehensive track record in the charities sector with more than 15 years’ experience of helping charities resolve legacy disputes.

Lucy is a member of Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and an affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), having completed the advanced certificate in Trust Disputes. She works closely with colleagues in the firm’s media, property litigation, real estate, private wealth and mental capacity teams to provide a seamless service to clients.

The team’s strength lies in our legacy dispute work, probate, and our outsourced legacy administration solutions. We have a mix of contentious and non-contentious lawyers, many of our team have STEP or ACTAPS qualifications and over 10 years’ experience working for national charities.

The team has seven specialist lawyers dealing with contentious trust and probate cases arising out of legacy income. It has eight lawyers assisting charities appointed as executors of estates with probate.

The team is also known for its unique offering in respect of legacy administration for charities. It has over £100 million of legacy income under its management with a team of six specialists dedicated to realising this income for charities.

In addition, the team includes Anna Phillips, our senior litigation lawyer specialising in resolving property issues where the property is an asset in the estate and Andrew Mackie our charity lawyer who advises on key governance and constitutional issues.

Our team has direct in-house experience working at charities such as the National Trust, Save the Children, Alzheimer’s UK, and Cancer Research UK which enables us to provide pragmatic, solutions focused advice which comes from a deep understanding of what it is like to work within the sector.

Our clients’ reputations are an important consideration in everything we do. Our nationally recognised Media team advise charities on reputation management issues including social media and data protection. The team has over 25 years’ experience in this complex field.
